My 8 year old daughter is IN LOVE with these books and we read them religiously every night. We've just started the 5th book. It has so many twists and turns. There are also well-written metaphors and similes as well as foreshadowing to help our family discussion of literary techniques. There are themes of loyalty (pure and conflicted), defense of those we love, betrayal and a belief in a higher power. I enjoy the cats' interpretation of the world around them. It cracks me up to imagine these cats performing tasks that would require opposable thumbs, but the suspension of disbelief is usually required to enjoy literature!
I became interested in this series of stories as my niece was persuing her summer reading program. I picked up book one when she was in the midst of book three. Without planning a contest I quickly overtook her progress and subsequently purchased the remaining books of the series. I found them well planned and the progression of the conflict among the cat clans reflected themes that are familiar. I enjoyed the stories and would recommend these for middle school and early high school readers. The cats as characters 'dissolved' for me as I related the friendship, animosity, power-seeking, fidelity to family, etc. to real life situations. The layers of the stories can be related in many ways to social situations of today's living. Good material for book club conversations with students.
OH MY GOSH this book was so awesome I COULD READ IT over and over. I totally recommend this book to anybody who loves quick unpredictable action the moves the story in whole other way. But first read books 1-3 don’t get me wrong... They are also amazing books. I’m just saying if you want to read the best series of your life buy books 1-6. Or you can be sad and alone like graystripe. (Book 3 reference)... you’ll understand later. JUST BUY THE GOSH DANG BOOK ITS SO GOOD IM GOING TO EXPLODE. (First buy books 1-3) PLEASE. My son is obsessed with this entire series and is even designing cat clan wars in his video game time. I can't tell you how many conversations revolve around these cats and which clan we'd be in...This series was heaven sent...
These were some of my daughter's favorite books when she was young, and she recommended them to all her friends.. She made me buy each new one in hardback the moment they came out, which wasn't cheap. She hung on to them for ages, until parting with them as a young adult. When I saw this series was on the Kindle and on sale, I had to buy them for nostalgia's sake and for her to read again. I will reading them myself at some point.

Congrats, Erin Hunter! You've hit a home run again!!!!!! I rate Warriors #4: Rising Storm (Warriors: The Prophecies Begin) 5 big fat stars because there is so much suspense! It is also written very nicely, and u can imagine that these kind of hard-core cats would do exactly what Erin Hunter set them up to do! Example: Clan cats aren't gonna call the thunderpath the road, nor are they gonna call "monsters" cars!! Great job Erin, once again! This book starts out mild, as Fireheart struggles with his new duties as deputy after Thunderclan exiled Tigerclaw after he tried to kill Bluestar so that he could become leader. But Fireheart knows that Tigerclaw is still lurking in the forest somewhere... Anyway, the action (as well as the danger that Thunderclan is in) grows when a fire makes its way through the whole of Thunderclan territory. Thunderclan has no choice
