There's a lot of information given, but not sure I'd call it a flashcard system. Although sheets can be divided into flashcards, the amount of information is overwhelming on the backs of each card, and certainly can not be gone through in a flashcard way. Also, there are five vocab words per card on Vocab section - also making a quick flashcard system difficult. No root words is included on cards, no type of grammar for words (ie: noun, verb, adj).. and no use of word in sentences....this would have helped most students. Overall, I am disappointed in my purchase, and it is not what I expected after reading the description.An example of my point: For a Reading Rhetoric flashcard, one side reads, "Explain using examples how students can determine author purpose when reading text by looking for words that give clues about that purpose."My honor student's response....what??GET READY....So now this is the back of ONE card : "To determine the author's purpose in writing text, students can look for certain words as clues to various purposes. For example, if the author's purpose was to compare similarities between/among ideas, look for "clue words" including "like," "similar(ly)," "same," "in the same way" and "just as." If the author's purpose was to contrast differences between/among ideas, clue words include "but," "however," "one the other hand," "dissimilar(ly)," and "in contrast/contrastingly." If the author's purpose was to criticize an idea, clue words connoting judgment/negative opinion include "poor," "bad," "inadequate," "insufficient," "lacking," "excessive," "wasteful," "harmful," "deleterious," "disservice," "unfair," etc. If the purpose was to paint a picture illustrating an idea, descriptive words include "morose," "crestfallen, "lusty," "glittering," "exuberant," etc. Explanatory purposes involve using simpler words to describe or explain more complex/abstract ideas. Identification purposes entail listing series of ideas without much accompanying opinion or description. To intensify an idea, authors add superlative ("-est") adjectives, more specific details; and enlarge concepts. To suggest or propose an idea, authors typically express positive opinions and provide supporting evidence for points to convince readers to agree .After four of these cards, my teen was burnt out and wanted to stop. She would have benefitted more from taking a practice test and review.Hope this helps another consumer.
My kids love studying with flash cards so this was perfect for them and extremely thorough. I expect they'll continue to use these to study for the SAT too.
